Privacy, in plain words

No full name. No email address. No phone number. No sign-in with an account from another service. A student joins with a class code from their teacher and the name they use in class: a first name or a nickname is fine, a full name never is.

Like any account system, the app does create the technical records an account needs: an internal account ID, class membership, timestamps, and the history of your own activity, all attached to that class name. That makes a class account pseudonymous rather than anonymous: the app does not hold your full identity, but your teacher knows which student each name belongs to.

Sketch uploads follow a “just the drawing” rule: every image is re-encoded on the server, which removes the embedded metadata photos carry (the EXIF data, which can include where a photo was taken). Re-encoding cannot remove what is visible in the picture itself, so keep faces, names, and documents out of the drawing.

Quiz answers and results; points and the events that earned them; weekly journal posts and sketches; practice attempts; AI feedback conversations; and the cosmetic choices for your companion. These records live in the EduCS database on a server in the United States, rented from the hosting company Hostinger and run by EduCS. Nightly backups are kept so the site can recover from a failure, and each backup is deleted automatically after 14 days.

Normally, you and your teacher. There are no public profiles. The person who runs EduCS can access records when that is needed to operate, fix, or secure the service, and the two service providers below process limited data to do their jobs. Classmates see only what you explicitly choose to share: the weekly class board (within your class, approved class names only, no scores, not a ranking) and the class showcase of companions, which is a separate opt-in choice you make yourself.

Some features send your work to Anthropic (the company behind the Claude AI models) to generate feedback. What gets sent is the task, your submitted text, and the recent conversation needed to respond; the app does not send the name you sign in with, your class code, or any account identifier with it. Under Anthropic’s commercial API policy, this content is not used to train their models, and Anthropic deletes API inputs and outputs within 30 days, with narrow exceptions (content flagged by their safety systems, and where the law requires longer).

The conversations are also kept in the EduCS database, so you and your teacher can look back at the feedback and so the daily limits work. They stay for as long as your account exists and are deleted with it. More detail is on the AI and feedback page.

The app uses Sentry (an error-reporting service) so crashes get noticed and fixed. A report carries technical details: which page broke, the browser type, and the trace of the error inside the software. The app is configured to keep you out of those reports: no session recordings, no cookies, no request contents, and a scrubbing step strips user-shaped and request-shaped data from every report before it leaves the server.

One cookie keeps you signed in. Your theme, sound, and companion preferences stay in your own browser. There is no advertising, no ad trackers, and no analytics trackers.

Your work is kept while you are part of the class. You or your teacher can ask for an account to be removed at any time, and teachers can delete a student account directly; deletion removes the account and its work, including the AI conversations, from the live service straight away, and the backup copies expire on the 14-day cycle described above.
