What EduCS is

The notes live at educs.me: free, no account, written to be read. This app is the interactive side: the skill map, the simulators, exam-style practice with step-by-step marking, short games, and class accounts that keep track of progress.

The line between the two is deliberate. The notes stay open to everyone; what the app adds is depth: interactivity, personal progress, and feedback. Nothing is ever removed from the free notes to push people towards an account.

EduCS is built and maintained by a practising IB Diploma Programme Computer Science teacher, for his own classes first. The content follows the IB DP Computer Science syllabus (first exams 2027), and features are shaped and tested through real classroom use. The skill map charts all seven areas of the course, and the notes, simulators, Practice Tutor, and arcade are live; the counts on the front page are generated from the real content, so they stay current. New pages, questions, and games are added steadily; a few of the newest map nodes are still getting their pages, and the newest areas will keep changing as they are tested.

The app uses a few overlapping-sounding words on purpose, because they measure different things:

Marks

How you did on one exam-style question, credit by credit. Marks stay with that question; they never turn into points or grades automatically.

Points

Rewards for taking part: quizzes, weekly activity, games. Points start as provisional and become confirmed when your teacher reviews them. There are no deductions in normal play; if an award is ever wrong, the correction is visible, never silent. Points are never grades.

Progress level

The app’s read on where you are with a topic: Encountered, then Developing, then Secure, then Connected. It moves on completed work, not on page visits.

Streak

Counts active weeks, not days, so one busy Tuesday still counts and a single quiet week is forgiven.

Gear and collection

A visual record of progress: each topic you practise can unlock a piece your companion wears, and the piece grows as your progress level rises.

Weekly board

The one shared surface: an optional, within-class set of weekly highlights chosen by fixed criteria. Approved class names only, no scores, and it is not a ranking.

Teacher access adds the review side of the app: reading and confirming student work (weekly reflections, quiz evidence), class progress views, and the controls behind the points economy. Access is by request; ask through the contact page on educs.me. If you already have an account, sign in here.
